WHS Health Fair

Waltham High School’s second annual health fair was a huge success! Over 800 students attended the May 4 event which was organized by health teacher Heather Metallides and the health classes. The gym was set up with information tables on topics important to teen health, such as skin cancer and blood pressure screening, cigarette smoking and illegal drug prevention, dating/relationship violence prevention, physical activity/exercise and healthy diet, and more! A large inflatable obstacle course was very popular, as was the Zumba class led by instructor Linda Flores. Healthy snacks were provided by Hannaford Supermarket and Whole Foods. Congrats to all involved!  What a great day.

Two of the health students wrote about the planning of the health fair for the Waltham News Tribune as guest columnists for Healthy Waltham’s monthly article.  Read the article here. A great job by students, for students, about the importance of health and their role in making lifelong healthy choices!
